about

So beach house was an interesting track to make, it was the first “progressive” song i’ve ever written, so no verses or chorus just constantly moving forward. I think it works as amalgamation of the whole album, it has elements of Blue Rebel, Groover Corner and Shoegazed all wrapped in one and lyrically it tells the story of the whole album before it gets into the main swing of it on “Seasons”

On the demo there’s a whole middle section that doesn’t appear on the Album! When we went into the studio to actually record it, this was definitely one of the harder songs to work out. There’s that weird timing change at 2:14 that we could not figure out how to actually do in a realistic way.

I remember Keith Pinchbeck (Drummer of Black Cloud) was trying to do the time change and it just wasn’t clicking then Will Grierson (Engineer at Collector Studios) made probably the best call for the track and said we should cut it out of this version of the song saying something to the effect of “The jazz kids would absolutely love this change up, but to the normies out there it wont sound musical” I thought that was really funny so we ended up changing the song! It actually ended up working out for the better. The Studio versions feels more honed into capturing the essence of the three sections of the album

The Song opens with a like "uhhhhh" and the first words of the song are "tried to remember a story" going back to the mind set of yung Jeremy was a weird experience at the time because i've never really given it much thought. I like to think of the lyrics and the voice of this song being more of a narrator. Walking listeners through the the different elements of the album, by the end of track you hear the news anchor say "Good morning everybody it's time for some news" referencing the topics in themes in "Seasons"

lyrics

Lyrics

Tried to remember a story
I can barely get to work on time, the sad truth is uninviting
just riddled in your mind
Miles away from anyone, even if you stand in close
I'm counting days for hours and I miss the days the most oh~

No need to think about it
I'll ride this out through many waves
I got so used to miming
I wouldn't know what to

(Say it Say it)
Just don't hold your breath
(Delay it Delay it)
Oh all the stress, these sunsets I don't mind
Yet the difference is in disguise
(Say it Say it)
It's not what it seems
(Delay it Delay it)
So far in dreams so just say whats on your mind
from this lonely place we hide

In spite of what you are, good times with this guitar
but feels like i'm living in place
Don't start, don't stop I don't want this anyway
So hard for me to see, this world a part of me
well cmon let's just get to the point
Movin, Groovin you wont make it to the end

(Wooo, yenno you did)

Thought up a nuke to bomb the tension
feels like i'm waging mental war
got all platoons to my attention
just leave me screaming out for more

Oh i'm dazed, Is it true?
saving, wont cave in so lets hold off
lets hold off x3
