about

So fun fact about Seasons! It was originally going to be a cover of the Mac Demarco song "Annie" . Thankfully I decided I do way too many Mac Demarco covers and I repurposed it into a JW song. This was the very first song I made for what would later become the album, I think it functions as the actual "introduction track" of the main concept as a whole.

I remember when writing this song it was the easiest process from start to finish, I had to sit on the idea of adding Liam Tate in for that middle ramble he does on the actual album for 4 years. As soon as I wrote that jam I knew I wanted him to do what he does on top of it, but it didn't actually happen until 2019.

The song is like a morning news break on the album, I imagine the verses are like the anchor person going on about their programming if they were "wokeish"

Seasons is about my over analyzing brain in my youth, I feel like I went down the conspiracy theory rabbit hole a lot when I was younger. I never took any reality warping drugs that time, but I remember always feeling like there was so much to life that just didn't make sense. My mom would always ALWAYS be watching the News and every time it was just the same chaos and worry rambles. I feel like anyone who always had their eyes glued to worry television would eventually become very paranoid hence that "Woke Ramble" on the main album. It's just a conspiracy theorists wet dream, someone spouting on about these crazy beliefs on

If the ending for the song sounds a bit familiar that's because it is! I actually loved the demo version of the outro so much that I ended up using it for the album and just added some fun dialogue on top of it :)

lyrics

Lyrics

They'll say that's fine don't waste your time
or interrupt my state of mind
now I can barely find a use for these things

So late in twine, this need to bind believing that it's all fine
well i've been dealing with the view since 15

Well maybe it's true this is the changing of the seasons
or maybe it's true we just need something to believe in
through cloudy days and tidal waves we'll cling to follows
with no one thinking of the truth leaves no tomorrow
but so what~

Don't wanna let you slide x4

Alright it's cool, i'll play the fool
no need to stay so in tune
countless hours lead to days of the same news
bleeding, divide, a storm of crimes, a legion of a lost time
well I see the end is in view

Well maybe it's true that i'm incline to find some reasons
or maybe it's true we just need something to believe in
through cloudy days and tidal waves we'll cling to follows
with no one thinking of the truth leaves no tomorrow

Don't wanna let you slide x4
